Frequently Asked Questions - Training Providers

General Questions

Q1: What is FarmReady?
FarmReady is part of Australia’s Farming Future, the Australian Government’s flagship four-year initiative to improve productivity and help farmers manage climate change.
FarmReady aims to boost training opportunities for primary producers, and enable industry, farming groups and natural resource management groups develop strategies to adapt and respond to the impacts of climate change.

Q2. How do FarmReady Reimbursements Grants differ from FarmReady Industry Grants?
The four year FarmReady program offers two types of support to the agricultural, fishing and forestry sectors:

  • FarmReady Reimbursement Grants for individual primary producers and Indigenous land managers to attend approved climate change training activities.
  • FarmReady Industry Grants for industry organisations, primary producer and natural resource management groups to undertake projects to enable their members to adapt to the impacts of climate change.

Questions for Training Providers

Q1: How do I register a course with the FarmReady program?
You need to submit a Training Provider and Course Registration form, along with supporting documents as required, including course materials and copies of teaching qualifications of trainers. You may submit your application electronically, by fax or by post.

Q2: Do I need to submit course materials?
If you are a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), issuing a Statement of Attainment to participants for courses accredited under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), you do not need to submit course materials to the FarmReady Program Administrator for assessment. If you are not an RTO or if the course is not accredited, you will need to submit course materials as part of the assessment process.

Q3: The trainers for this course do not have a Cert 4, are they still eligible?
Not having a Certificate 4 does not exclude you from being eligible as a trainer. Refer to the guidelines: “possess other appropriate teaching qualifications or current relevant experience in delivery of adult training and education as determined by the program administrator”. On the application form, you should list the recent and current relevant experience of the trainers listed to deliver the course.

Q4: Do we receive feedback on our application?
You will be notified by email whether it is successful, pending (with requests for clarification) or unsuccessful (with feedback on our decision).

Q5: What is the process and criteria for assessment?
Please refer to the Program Guidelines for detailed assessment criteria used by the FarmReady Program Administrator.

Q6. How long do course assessments take?
The assessment of training activities / courses generally takes 5 working days. Any delay in the assessment of your course may be a result of requiring further information from the Training Provider (in which case, you should have been contacted) or a small backlog in our processing. We appreciate your patience.

Q7: How do the reimbursements work?
Training providers receive payment for course delivery costs from participants, but will not be eligible to receive additional funding under the FarmReady program. Primary producers and indigenous land managers are eligible to receive reimbursement of course and associate reasonable costs incurred attending approved FarmReady courses.

While we understand the helpful intent of training providers collating application forms for participants, this can result in a high percentage of errors on forms and an inability to process applications and reimbursements. We request that training providers DO NOT submit forms on behalf of course attendees or participate in the process of applicant form submission.

Q8: What if multiple training providers are delivering the same course?
All training providers delivering the course, need to apply for registration under the program.
In cases where course information and material for the course(s), and delivery of the course material are identical across more than one training provider, the training providers can either:

  • Submit the application together with separate Parts A,C and D for each of the training providers and a common Part B (training activity information), and/or
  • The training provider who has developed the training activity and licensed its delivery to other training providers can provide a letter to those training providers to accompany their application advising that the course information, material and delivery is identical.
