Information for Primary Producers and Indigenous Land Managers
This financial year FarmReady has expanded to include training for agritourism and food tourism and will reimburse 65 per cent of the eligible course cost. Please read the Q&A page for more info on the changes.
FarmReady Reimbursement Grants assist primary producers and Indigenous land managers to attend approved training courses. Eligible participants can receive up to $1500 per person per financial year to cover the cost of approved training activities, with additional support available for associated expenses such as excess travel, accommodation and childcare.
Courses registered with FarmReady aim to improve the capacity of primary producers to adapt to climate change and increase their self reliance and preparedness.
The ten Key Learning Areas covered by FarmReady Reimbursement Grants can be found in the Program Guidelines.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the FarmReady Reimbursement Grant, you need to be either a:
- primary producer (including farmers, fishers and foresters as defined by the Australian Taxation Office)
- immediate family member of a primary producer
- member of the management team of a primary production enterprise
or
- Indigenous land manager
You cannot work for a Commonwealth, State or Local Government department or agency involved in primary production, fishing or forestry and you must not have completed the same course before (in the last 4 years).
What you need to do to apply
STEP 1: Before you attend a FarmReady-registered course, complete and lodge an Application Form. You will then be given 'pre-approval' to attend if you meet the eligibility criteria. You must receive 'Pre-Approval' before attending a course if you wish to seek reimbursement.
NB: You must allow five (5) working days for your application to be processed, and to be notified of the result. This 'pre-approval to attend a course' and to receive a grant (upon course completion) is not guaranteed if you do not allow the five (5) working days.
This 'Pre-Approval' must be granted before the start of the course in order to receive a FarmReady Reimbursement Grant. The applicant is solely responsible for any outlays made before receiving Pre-Approval.
STEP 2: Attend the course. Keep your evidence of course completion (a certificate or similar) from the training provider, and keep all receipts relevant to your claim.
STEP 3: After you have successfully completed the FarmReady-registered course you nominated, you must lodge a Claim Form and include all the requested supporting documents.
NB: The Claim Form must be submitted within 30 days of the end of the course to receive a reimbursement payment.
