Guidelines for Training Providers
FarmReady ends on 30 June 2012. Reimbursement will not be available for courses completed after 31 May 2012.
You can avoid delays for your participants by making sure you provide the invoice and receipt for the course and the evidence of completion (a certificate or similar) as soon as the course ends.
All Training Providers, trainers and training courses are required to be registered under FarmReady. Training Providers cannot be registered with the program unless they have at least one course registered.

How do I register?
Training Providers seeking to register with the program must complete a Training Course Registration form and:
- provide course information and materials (if applicable) for the course to be registered
- provide adequate information about trainer qualifications and experience for each individual trainer
- ensure that changes to any details contained in the registration form occurring after registration are notified to the Program Administrator as soon as practicable
- ensure that the conditions of approval for courses registered under their name are met, and continue to be met, for the whole of the time that the course is registered with FarmReady
Training Providers receive payment for course attendance from participants, and are not eligible to receive additional funding under FarmReady.
What can't be registered under FarmReady?
FarmReady does not register, and will not consider for reimbursement:
- ongoing secondary and tertiary education
- one-on-one provision of training
- stand alone technical/operational training activities unless linked to whole of farm climate change strategy
- single issue production management courses unless linked to whole of farm climate change strategy
- specific training activities required to be undertaken to satisfy government regulatory and statutory obligations
- training activities that are cross-subsidised by other government programs or agencies which would provide the opportunity of 'double-dipping' government funding
- overseas training activities of any kind
- domestic conferences, study tours, workshops and other similar activities that do not provide structured and interactive learning activities with clearly defined learning outcomes
- purchase of materials, including software, not part of the course cost. E-learning and correspondence learning courses can be registered if both the developer and deliverer meet training provider requirements
- refresher or similar courses unless it incorporates additional information and research
- if participants have undertaken the same course within the last four (4) years it will be deemed 'repeat training' and pre-approval will not be granted
- courses not registered prior to training taking place
- preparation of business plans for farm businesses or new enterprises
- courses completed after 31 May 2012
How are courses assessed?
Courses are assessed by the Program Administrator. For courses to be registered, Training Providers must be able to demonstrate that their course:
- meets the objectives of the program
- falls within one of the identified key learning areas
- is focused at management level with the exception of the following categories:
- understanding the science of climate change
- integration of new techniques / industries for sustainable production
- takes an integrated or systems approach to improving the sustainable productive capacity of the enterprise. (Such approaches typically consider the interaction between multiple aspects of the production system and provide producers with the skill to identify options and implement best practice for adapting the system to respond to climate change)
- is run by a FarmReady registered Training Provider
- is delivered by a qualified trainer
- is cost effective, taking into consideration access and equity issues, and meets prevailing market price benchmarks
and- contains accurate and up-to-date information
What information do you need to assess my course?
Training Providers must provide:
- details of the proposed activity and associated learning outcomes
- the proposed training hours and methods of delivery
- a copy of the course material – e.g. manuals, workbooks, handouts (if applicable)
- the proposed cost - training activities require a budget comprising: professional fees, course materials, trainer travel (car/airfares), trainer accommodation, venue hire, equipment hire, and catering, and
- the proposed number of courses, locations and dates the courses will be delivered over the following 3 months
Do I have to notify any changes?
Yes. For each FarmReady registered course, if training outcomes or course content (including course name) change after registration, notification of the change and updated course materials must be submitted to the Program Administrator at least 14 days before the change is implemented.
Registered courses will be monitored by the Program Administrator on a regular basis.
What are the key conditions for registered courses?
Where training is required to be focused at management level (see How are courses assessed? above), Training Providers must demonstrate that the majority of learning outcomes from their course are consistent with Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) Level IV or above competencies.
Where possible, FarmReady seeks to remove any barriers to learning through appropriate recognition of the unique individual's circumstances.
Training providers delivering accredited training under the AQF ensure that learning activities and outcomes are aligned to Units of Competency from relevant training packages such as Rural Production, Seafood, Amenity Horticulture, Conservation and Land Management, and other relevant nationally accredited training packages.
Training Providers need to provide participants with tax invoices and proof of payment/ receipts detailing evidence of course payment, course attendance and completion, course name, course location, training date(s) and time, and participant contact details.
What are the requirements for trainers?
A key issue is the quality and learning outcomes of the training that is being delivered to primary producers. As part of this approach, FarmReady seeks to ensure that those delivering training courses, both accredited and non-accredited, have the necessary skills and qualifications. All training courses delivered under the program must be delivered by trainers who have been registered with the Program Administrator.
Training Providers need to demonstrate that their trainers can satisfy at least one of the following requirements:
- hold a previous Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198)
- hold a current Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAA40104) or specified competencies from that certificate:
- TAADES402A Design and Deliver Learning Programs
- TAADEL401A Plan and Organise Group Based Delivery
- TAADEL402A Facilitate Group Based Delivery
- TAAASS401A Plan and Organise Assessment
- TAAASS402A Assess Competence
- possess other appropriate teaching qualifications or current relevant experience in delivery of adult training and education as determined by the Program Administrator
Copies of trainers' qualifications must be provided. Other non-training qualifcations are not considered and do not need to be included.
Evidence of current relevant experience in delivery of adult training can be brief (ie dot points) and should cover year from/ year to, approximate number of sessions or courses to an approximate number of trainees. Experience other than delivery of adult training/education will not be considered and does not need to be provided. You do not need to send your CV or resumé.
Where trainers are delivering courses through a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), details of current delivery arrangements together with a copy of the written agreement is required.
If a Training Provider is delivering accredited courses through an RTO, the course competencies must be within the RTO's scope of registration.
(1) Management level training is described under FarmReady with reference to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF). Under this framework, management level is considered to be at AQF Level IV or above.
(2) Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) delivering accredited training under the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) and issuing a Statement of Attainment to participants are not subject to this requirement (ie assessment cannot be optional for participants)
