Course Description:

This three day workshop uses both practical and theory sessions to show producers and agribusines partners how they can apply the latest breeding, nutrition and marketing research to generate a more productive and profitable herd. The Feeder Steer School is a very ‘hands-on’ experience. It gives commercial cattle breeders, steer traders and lotfeeders access to some of the beef industry’s leading experts. Participants at the school learn the advantages of producing feeder steers as a climate change / risk management tool. As well they are provided information to prepare cattle to minimise health problems and maximise market suitability. Industry leaders explain how to use breeds, BREEDPLAN and gene marker technology to ensure on-going genetic improvement.
