Course Description:

This one day course covers the implications of climate change in Australian agriculture with an emphasis upon the critical role of farming in relation to carbon sequestration. Several mineral and biological strategies for humus-building will be discussed. Increasing organic carbon levels offers a remarkable 'win/win' scenario associated with improved water management, enhanced retention of fertilisers and reduced erosion. The course will also include a host of biological strategies to reduce reliance upon petrochemicals under the umbrella of mineral management, microbe management, plant management and pest management.
